Happy Feet One Step at a Time

From Toronto Canada:  French artist Mathieu Missiaen founded this innovative idea, which hand-paints designs (over 50 choices online or you can let the artist choose) in an oil-based paint on virtually any type of shoe.

The one-of-a kind shoes are marketed on several websites including Etsy, which is renowned for promoting handmade goods.  Prices vary according to design and whether you provide the shoes; see their website for details.

You can make a difference; there are people in this world who have never had a pair of shoes.  Soles4Soles had already donated over 3 million pairs of shoes worldwide.

The Collin County Assistance Center in Texas, Payless Shoe Source, area churches and several wonderful volunteers are hosting a back-to school "Shoe Store August 23.  The shoes are donated for children from kindergarten through high school; they will also have socks and dental hygiene products.

 A simple pair of shoes really makes a difference to a child in need, and takes some of the financial burden off the families.

 Hopefully others communities will take up the cause.  Thanks to the First United Methodist Church of Plano, Texas.
