Foot Pillows Can Get You Back in High Heels

May 26th, 2008 · Comments · Beauty Tips, Diseases and Conditions, Latest News

Love your high heels but having too much pain? You will love this solution! Doctors are now using Sculptra , a skin "filler" usually used in the face, as a filler placed in the ball of the foot. Called "foot pillows ", "foot lifts " and foot fashion’s hottest accessory, this technique while not inexpensive, gives long-lasting results. In fact, after injecting, you will feel the results, plus collagen builds up over the next several weeks to further pad your foot. As we age, generally we gain fat. Unfortunately we lose fat in the balls of the feet ; sometimes it is so bad that when walking, the foot bones have no protection from hard walking surfaces.

The condition is called metatarsalgia. Now, with Sculptra, there is an effective way to replace the padding. Sculptra is a safe, FDA-approved skin filler; biodegradable, it does not require an allergy test prior to use. The area is given a local injection, then Sculptra is injected. Its name gives it away; your Podiatrist can literally massage and "sculpt" it into place. The way Sculptra works: it is a suspension of a poly-lactic acid. It irritates cells and triggers fibroblastic activity; collagen is produced. So, Sculptra is technically NOT a filler so much as a catalyst, and its effects can last for several months.

Sex and the City; The New “It” Shoes

May 15th, 2008 · Comments · Celebrity Shoes

There is a waiting list for the python gladiator sandals by Christian Dior, worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming Sex and the City movie. Oh, and do not forget another python pair by Proenza Schouler (pictured). Vogue magazine Proenza Schouler Python Triple-strap Sandal reports they are already back-ordered…

Apparently, each character has her own lingerie line as well; that’s fine, but as you know, with Carrie Bradshaw, it was always the shoes (remember Aidan’s dog Pete?).  Admittedly, she usually managed to do the black-bra-under-light-shirt thing, but it was more about the MBs…"hello, lover."  Indeed.

Besides Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, AND New York, AND Mr. Big, it had to be the shoes.

I have been such a fan of Sex and the City; these shoes remind me why! Opens in the U.S. May 30th (right?) Why are they doing the debut in England and Europe anyway?

And I am wondering; it’s been a few years after all.  Any problems with pump bumps?  Anyone up for foot pillows?

Here’s what those in the know have to say:

Sex and the City Movie Style: Carrie’s Shoes - … gladiator-style heels, which are on trend anyway, but will surely be even more so once the movie opens (that would be today). We certainly don’t have an SATC-worthy…. Continue reading "Sex and the City Movie Style: Carrie’s Shoes"…

Sex and the City The Movie - "Labels and love," Carrie Bradshaw intones in the opening minutes of SaTC, and that’s basically what the movie amounts to: lots of shoes, a lot of smushy relationships, and no casual sex to speak of, thus decimating most of what was …

What to wear to see Sex and the City - Here’s a funky bracelet from Urban Outfitters. A glam ring from J.Crew: Scarves can go with just about anything: 4. Shoes. Shoes. Shoes. Manolo’s anyone? On Sex and the City, the louder the better! A bold animal print from J. Crew: …

For the Love of Feet - How Women Should Choose Shoes

December 28th, 2007 · Comments · Beauty Tips, Foot Products

What the heck does THAT mean; how women should choose shoes?

What time of day? - after walking around for hours, when they are nice and swollen…

Bring a friend for advice? - why not…

Only when they’re on sale? - who likes money -

No, the reason for the blog is about foot care, isn’t it…so with bunions and hammertoes and crippling pain in mind, let’s think.

Heels, stilettos, and slides, oh my! Podiatrists love them no matter how you look wearing high heels. I have friends who are thankin’ us all for their business.

Actually, a good podiatrist can be on your side and is worth a visit if you are feeling foot discomfort. You might get a little teasing about your choice of shoe, but these docs have a lot of weapons in their arsenal to keep your feet happy (or happier).

I know women who swear by custom orthotic devices. They are truly custom: a casting is made of your foot and sent to a lab; within a couple of weeks, you are kicking up your heels!

There are a lot of other options you may not even know about; heel supports, special wraps, etc.

Orthotic devices and foot supports are not a cure; if you already have gnarly bunions or hammertoes you need to re-think you shoe style, or at least wear the ‘killer’ shoes for short periods of time.

If you need to find a way to wear heels with more comfort, check this article on foot pillows.

Isn’t it amazing how aching feet can interfere with your day? See your podiatrist; or find one!
